Terms of service

Last updated: November 16, 2025

Wheelbase (a Vastli Ltd company) connects vehicle owners ("Hosts") with people who want to rent cars ("Guests") through our website and mobile apps (collectively, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

1. Key definitions

These definitions help clarify how Wheelbase talks about our community:

  • Platform: The Wheelbase website, mobile app, and related services.
  • Host: A registered user who lists and rents a vehicle on Wheelbase.
  • Guest: A registered user who books and drives a listed vehicle.
  • Vehicle: Any automobile, 4x4, bus, or other motor vehicle a Host lists.
  • Rental period / trip: The agreed pickup and return window for a reservation.
  • Trip price: The total payable amount including Host fees, Wheelbase service fees, applicable taxes, and protection costs.
  • Approved driver: A Guest who passes Wheelbase verification and is legally authorized to operate the vehicle.

2. Eligibility and user accounts

You must register for an account and keep your information accurate and up to date. By creating an account, you represent that you can enter into binding agreements under Ghanaian law.

Host requirements

  • You are the legal owner or authorized representative of the vehicle.
  • Your vehicle meets Ghanaian regulatory standards (roadworthiness, age, registration) and Wheelbase-specific criteria.
  • You maintain all required documentation and keep listings accurate.

Guest / driver requirements

  • Hold a valid Ghanaian Driver’s License or International Driving Permit.
  • Meet the minimum age requirement (at least 25 unless otherwise stated).
  • Pass all security, verification, and compliance checks.

3. Roles and responsibilities

A. Wheelbase’s role

Wheelbase is a technology platform that connects Hosts and Guests. We do not own, sell, or rent vehicles, and we are not an agent for either party. Hosts remain the merchant of record for their vehicles.

B. Host responsibilities

  • Provide accurate listings, pricing, and availability.
  • Maintain the vehicle in safe, roadworthy condition with valid documentation throughout every rental period.
  • Maintain legally mandated insurance and confirm the policy allows peer-to-peer rentals.
  • Deliver or make the vehicle available at the agreed location, on time, and in a clean state with the promised fuel or charge level.

C. Guest responsibilities

  • Drive responsibly and follow all Ghanaian traffic laws.
  • Never allow unapproved drivers, commercial use, racing, towing, or other prohibited uses.
  • Avoid impaired driving, transporting contraband, or smoking in the vehicle.
  • Monitor vehicle health (fluids, tire pressure, warning lights) and report issues immediately.
  • Return the vehicle on time, in the same condition (normal wear excluded).

4. Booking and financial terms

  • The Host sets the base rental price. Wheelbase adds fees, taxes, and protection costs to form the final trip price.
  • Guests authorize Wheelbase to charge their payment method for trip costs, deposits, damages, fines, or other fees described in these Terms.
  • Wheelbase may require a refundable security deposit, released after a clear post-trip inspection.
  • Cancellation and refund rules follow Wheelbase’s published Cancellation Policy and apply to both Hosts and Guests.

5. Insurance, protection, damages, and accidents

Hosts must maintain legally mandated insurance. Wheelbase may offer optional supplemental protection plans from third-party partners; details appear in the Protection Policy.

If an accident, theft, or damage occurs, Guests must ensure everyone’s safety, notify the Host and Wheelbase immediately, file a report with the Ghana Police Service, and avoid unauthorized repairs.

Guests are primarily liable for costs, damages, fines, tolls, cleaning fees, and other expenses incurred during the rental period, up to the vehicle’s full replacement value subject to applicable protection plans.

6. Violations and enforcement

Violating these Terms—including unauthorized drivers, excessive speeding, or prohibited uses—may result in:

  • Violation fees or fines charged to the responsible party.
  • Full liability for damages, losses, and costs associated with the violation.
  • Immediate suspension or termination of Wheelbase accounts.
  • Vehicle repossession by the Host or Wheelbase (at Guest expense) if risk is detected.

7. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. We encourage parties to resolve disputes through good-faith discussion first.

If informal resolution fails, disputes may proceed to binding arbitration in Accra or the appropriate Ghanaian court, as advised by Wheelbase’s legal team.

8. Amendments

Wheelbase may update these Terms at any time. We will post changes on the Platform and note the effective date. Continued use of the Platform after updates signals acceptance of the revised Terms.
